Vegas has been known for years to be the hot spot for aspiring professional basketball players to get professional contracts. Vegas offers the unique opportunity to play in front of more scouts than what would come from a normal city combine or tryout. With that said, there are many companies that have attempted to jump into this field. The problem with that is it has cluttered Vegas with so many choices, players do not know who to trust or which camp is best. Here are some statistics that have recently became available by Eurobasket.com as of June 1st, 2016.
-650 College Seniors from 2016 have already signed agents. At the end of 2015 only 487 players had signed with agents.
-2,638 agents are currently active and contacting teams via Eurobasket.com
-1,407 agencies are currently active representing these agents
-13,334 players in the world currently have agents
These numbers are extremely telling for a player trying to break into the market as a pro player. The competition is sky high competing for professional jobs. There are 193 countries of professional basketball that span over 420 leagues. As an agent it is our job to contact as many teams as possible for our players. So if you think sending game film, highlight tapes, and resume alone is enough to get the job done you may be one of the players left out in the cold. Vegas is the last chance to make that impression before we hit the final stretch of signings.
When choosing a camp you must understand where the connections are. Small camps and small agencies will not get you where you want to go. They simply do not have the personnel or connection range to help you. You must choose an agent certified by FIBA (http://www.fiba.com/find-basketball-agent). You will find me on that link. If they are not an agent how do you expect the camp to have the connections? If they dont have an online stream how are your maximum opportunities presented? Assume they have 100 scouts in attendance. That still is only 0.005 percent of teams, scouts, and coaches in the world. Why subject yourself to being a needle in a haystack? An online stream allows any coach, any GM, any scout to watch the event (or rewatch the event) at any time in any place. That is thousands of opportunities instead of a hand full that disappear after the camp ends.
Eurobasket.com and WCL Sports Management have been a premier name in player representation. WCL alone has helped place 120 players overseas in the past 3 years. No other agency or camp can claim those numbers over 5 years. The partnership with Eurobasket.com now enhances each and every opportunity. Through the Summer League, Eurobasket has helped 700 players in 9 years reach an overseas contract. No other agency or service can claim those numbers in their history. Dont trust a company without a proven track record. Trust companies with proven track records and proven trust from players.
