2015 Men’s WCL Highlight Tape (Women’s Highlight Coming Soon)
(LOS ANGELES, CA) As the 2015 Summer Signing period draws to an end, Whitecox & Lyons Sports Management has announced the combine schedule for the 2015 Winter Signing Period. The Winter Signing period is designed for players that went unsigned over the summer and are looking to join a team during the fall and winter months. “There are plenty of opportunities out there for players to get signed during winter. You have to think of injuries, players getting homesick, or even under performing players getting cut. Teams need to fill those positions and the options they have are the unsigned player pool.” WCL Lead Agent Dustin Simcox said. “There are also leagues in South America and Australia that don’t even get started until January, February, and March. Players need to just brush themselves off and come into the next opportunity with a giant chip on their shoulder.” This is an important time frame for unsigned players trying to show that they are able to come in and perform immediately as potential replacements.
“Honestly, you just have to keep pushing. Playing pro ball isn’t supposed to be easy. Nothing is going to be given to you at this level. Everything is going to be earned.” Player Development Director Jelany White added. “Grind, grind, grind. You are working for a paycheck against hundreds of other players. If you want basketball to provide for you, you got to make that extra effort.” WCL has continued to be a power in international basketball helping over 100 players get professional contracts in 37 different countries over the past few years. Dustin has consistently been ranked as one of the top 5 agents in international ball according to EuroBasket.com. You can view the combine attendees that are now playing professionally here. Each combine is structured like the NBA Combine with athleticism (vertical jump, sprint speeds, lateral speeds, agility), individual skill (shooting, transition, 1on1 defense, 3on3), and full 5on5 portions. Day 1 will be athleticism and individual skills while Day 2 will feature the 5on5 games. Just like previous combines all of the winter combines will be streamed online via our website allowing international teams to view the combine in full. This feature is even more important as most teams are in season and will not be able to attend in person. (Click here for a past combine example)
The winter schedule includes stops in 3 familiar locations: Atlanta, Chicago, and Las Vegas. The first combine will take place on November 7th and 8th in Atlanta, Georgia. The location is set for Tracey Wyatt Recreation Center. The second combine will take place on November 14th and 15th in Chicago, Illinois. The location is Southland Recreation Center. The final combine will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada at Cambridge Recreation Center just off the strip. These will be the only Winter combines offered and the last combines of 2015. Each combine costs $400. Each participant will have to fill out a registration form to secure their spot in one of the combines. The registration form can be found here.
